Outdoor Stone Paving Process

Nov 15, 2024

The outdoor stone paving construction process mainly includes the following steps:

‌Construction preparation‌: Ensure smooth traffic in the construction area, complete tools (such as wheelbarrows, shovels, rulers, etc.) and machinery (such as excavators, forklifts), and sufficient materials (such as stone, cement, sand, etc.). At the same time, carry out ground hardening construction to ensure that the base is solid and flat.

‌Base treatment‌: Clean the surface of the base, remove mortar, dust, garbage and other debris, and ensure that the base is clean and free of water. Then, pop up the layout line and elevation control line on the base for accurate layout.

‌Stone selection and processing‌: Select stones with high color saturation and good quality, and screen them before entering the site. During processing, control the quality of stone cutting, and return stones with low quality and large color difference.

‌Paving stones‌: On the dry and hard cement mortar bonding layer, pre-pave according to the layout line, adjust the stone position, and ensure that the details such as joints, layout, and flatness meet the requirements. Then, use a rubber hammer to knock the stone to make it closely combined with the base layer and reach the designed elevation and flatness.

‌Jointing and maintenance‌: After the stone is paved, grouting is carried out to ensure that the seam width is uniform and the grouting agent is full. Then, watering maintenance is carried out to keep the surface of the stone moist. The maintenance time is generally not less than 7 days.

‌Acceptance and protection‌: After the stone paving construction is completed, acceptance is carried out to check the stone's flatness, color difference, hollowing and other quality problems. At the same time, the finished product protection is done to prevent the construction area from being polluted or damaged.

During the entire construction process, it is necessary to strictly control the material quality, construction technology and acceptance standards to ensure the construction quality and service life of the outdoor stone paving project.
