Types of Marble
Based on their composition, it is possible to make an initial categorization of the different types of marble:

Crystalline limestone marbles
These are pure marbles (i.e., without fossils) and are generally composed of larger crystals. They can be found in both white and colored varieties.
Serpentine marbles
Green-colored marbles whose name comes from a particular group of minerals called the serpentine group, which is mixed with limestone. Sometimes, they can be found in darker shades, close to blue or yellow, depending on which mineral from the serpentine group is most prevalent in the marble.

Cryptocrystalline limestone marbles
These have a less pronounced crystalline structure than the previous type and are generally quite colorful.
Clastic marbles
The texture shows visible fragments of rocks, cemented fossils, as well as siliceous or calcareous materials.
