1. Natural Defects: Acceptable Variations

• Veining and Color Variation – Dramatic, flowing veins and subtle gray-white tones are natural and add character. Slight color shifts or wispy veins are not defects.
• Pits and Fissures – Tiny, shallow pits (under 1/16 in) or hairline fissures that don't compromise structural integrity are typical. They are filled with resin during fabrication. Open or deep fissures (over 1/8 in) are flagged.
• Crystals and Inclusions – Small mineral deposits or sparkly crystals are common. Large, loose crystals that could chip out are unacceptable.

2. Workmanship Quality: Must Not Pass

• Edge Finish – All edges (flat, ogee, bullnose, etc.) must be smooth, uniform, and free of chips or rough spots. Run a finger along-no sharp edges.
• Surface Polish – Consistent, high-gloss finish (for polished) or uniform matte (for honed). No dull patches, swirl marks, or uneven sheen.
• Seams (if applicable) – For double vanity tops, seams must be tight (gap under 1/32 in) and filled with color-matched epoxy. No visible glue lines or misalignment.
• Backsplash and Sink Cutouts – Backsplash pieces align flush with the top. Sink cutouts must be precise, with no chipping or jagged edges. Rim should be smooth for undermount sinks.

4. Packaging and Handling: Must Not Pass

• Crating – Secured in a sturdy wooden crate with foam padding at corners and edges. No direct contact with other stones.
• Labeling – Each piece has a sticker with order number, stone name, and "Fragile" markings. No missing or smudged labels.

• Use a 10x magnifying glass to check surface flaws.
• Test for water absorption: A drop of water should bead up on polished stone; if it soaks in quickly, sealant is compromised.
• Allow up to 3 small pits (under 1/8 in) per square foot. Anything more is a reject.
